BSNL launches WiMAX services


State owned BSNL, has become the first telecom operator to launch wireless broadband services using WiMAX technology. The services were launched yesterday by Minister of State Sachin Pilot with a starting tariff of Rs 140 per month in rural areas.

Currently, the launch took place with more than 200 base stations in Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. WiMAX services support broadband speed of 7 Mbps over a radius of 15 kms.
